There are many applications for natural grass rolls. Because we are in Valencia and in March we celebrate the Fallas with the arrival of spring, this moment is one of those that receive the greatest demand since we specialize in the supply of grass for Fallas.

Each fall commission has needs. Some prefer to go pick them up themselves at our base located in the Garden Center in Picassent, while others want it to be delivered to them at the foot of Falla; this is when we usually supply it at night directly from the production field, a day before the ‘plantá de la falla’, so that it is as fresh as possible and remains rolled up for the minimum amount of time, ready for the commissions to place it as the final culmination of the Falla.

For this specific case, it is very important to know the dimensions of the roll to know exactly the amount of grass necessary for Fallas monuments in each case. Our Tot U Garden Center in Valencia sells them all year round in rolls of 2.5 x 0.40 meters, equivalent to one square meter.

Laying grass sod

The sods that the U Garden Center in Valencia supplies have the same measurements as throughout the year, 2.50 x 0.40, which is equivalent to one square meter. The pallets contain 75 high-quality rolls that are perfectly rolled. Our machines, even if it is raining, can tear off and roll up the sod and be ready when needed.

Grass sods, being grown with sand and substrates, make them light, clean, do not break and are easy to place. We always recommend keeping them moist and shaded until the time of installation.

Sand is used as a base for laying the grass sod. In the Fallas monuments, we use planche (it has a little more gravel and a little less sand), and it is what we recommend. This is presented in a 25-kilo bag and gives better results than what was being used, which was sand. The ironing resists humidity much more and is much cleaner.

In the Fallas monuments, we must cut the sod with a cutter or knife, giving it the shape we want. There are never losses; all scraps can be used. When it is already placed, and everything is clean, it is watered. We must carry out this operation every morning so you can see the growth and rooting of the grass.
